Mormon Artist magazine is launched

The new magazine, Mormon Artist, is available online for free here.

Ben Crowder (not pictured above) is founding editor of the newly launched magazine, Mormon Artist.  The magazine is dedicated to Latter-day Saints in the arts and Mormon themed art, music, photography, dance, theater, and cinema.  

The magazine looks great and will serve a highly needed role in the Mormon arts community.  

Dr. Keith Finlayson, M.D. of the Mormon Tabernacle Choice

This article in the Deseret News is about my medical doctor (ENT) in Salt Lake City, Dr. Keith Finlayson.  He also served a mission in Brazil, and he sings in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir!

LDS Church hosts major artwork in Denver, Colorado

The LDS Church has opened a collection of artwork of considerable size at several chapels in Denver, Colorado. The collections include art by Rembrandt.

Mormons have a thing for dancing: Dancesport USA at BYU

Each year Brigham Young University is host to the annual Dancesport USA event, featuring professional and amateur ballroom dancers from around the United States, and some from abroad.  BYU is chosen each year to host the event due to its impressive dance facilities and department.  BYU boasts the largest collegiate dance department in the United States!

I have attended the Dancesport competition numerous times while I studied at BYU, and enjoyed the wonderful performances by children, teens, college students, and young professional dancers.

African American culture on display at Mormon Visitors' Center in Washington, DC

If you are in Washington, DC, or will  be visiting soon, please do NOT miss this great exhibit!  The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Washington DC Temple Visitors' Center has opened an exhibit on African-American culture, history, and art.  The exhibit is open through March 2008.  Don't wait!  For more information, visit this site.

The Temple and the Visitors' Center are located just outside Washington in the town of Kensington, Maryland.  The area surrounding the Temple is beautiful, and the Temple grounds/gardens are fantastic.  Click here for a map and driving directions.
