Mormon Studies at Harvard, and elsewhere

Since their founding, universities owned and operated by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (BYU, BYU-I, BYU-H) have included Mormon history and theology in their curriculum.  In recent years, interest in Mormon studies has spread to other academic venues.  The University of Utah, Utah Valley University, Southern Utah University, and others have offered courses in Mormonism for several years.   Now, schools outside of Utah are taking Mormon studies more seriously.  Claremont here in Southern California has an endowed Chair in Mormon Studies, offers classes, conducts research, and hold conferences on Mormonism.  Courses in Mormonism are being offered at the University of North Carolina, The Univ. of Wymoing, Vanderbilt, Arizona State, and others.  (Hopefully we can get an interesting course on Mormonism going at UCLA!)  Now, LDS history and theology are the subject of a religion course at Harvard.  Please read this article for more information.
